Mission Statement
The purpose of the Skatium is to be a financially stable municipal recreational facility which will provide the residents of Haverford Township with recreational and learning opportunities in all disciplines of skating as well as enhancing the quality of life by providing them with an affordable opportunity for a unique experience among the community at large.
Skatium Facts
The Skatium opened its doors on September 20,1974.
Membership was first limited to Township residents only.
The Skatium name came from a Township-wide contest,
the winner was 12 year old Michael Steinberg.
The cost to build the facility was $1.5 million.
The mortgage was paid off in 1994.
The first Director of the Skatium was Dennis Ott.
Dave "The Hammer" Schultz was the Skatium's Director in the early and mid 90's.
The Skatium has been Voted the Best Place to Skate and Play Ice Hockey in Delaware County for numerous years.
Skatium is the home rink of:
Haverford Hawks Youth Hockey
High School Hockey
ICSHL (Haverford, O'Hara, St. Joe's Prep, Carroll, Bonner-Prendie, Lower Merion, Harriton)
Independent Hockey League (Episcopal Academy, Haverford School)
St. Joseph's University Ice Hockey
